Dirac Live to Arrive for the NAD C 658 BluOS™ Streaming DAC in June 2019

The versatile streaming DAC preamplifier to be equipped with renowned room correction software.

Munich HIGH END, Munich, Germany, May 6, 2019 — NAD Electronics, makers of award-winning high fidelity audio electronics, have announced that its C 658 BluOS Streaming DAC will soon be equipped with state-of-the-art room correction software from Dirac Research. With a coming software update scheduled on or around 10th June, 2019, Dirac Live will be available to all C 658 users.

Dirac Live measures the energy and time it takes for both direct and reflected sound waves to travel from the speakers to a user-defined listening area from which it calculates precision filters to counteract the negative. The result is a near-perfect compensation of the room’s acoustic anomalies without changing the inherent sound characteristics of the audio system.

“Speaker placement is hard to get right,” explained Cas Oostvogel, NAD Electronics Product Manager. “You are limited by practicalities like leaving doorways clear, placement of other furniture, and location of electrical outlets. Dirac Live essentially does the heavy lifting to make your music sound as if your speakers were ideally placed.” The C 658 includes a microphone so users can calibrate their listening environment using Dirac’s proprietary app, available for desktop, iOS, and Android devices. Up to five different listening profiles can be stored.

Robust tone and room correction controls can be accessed with the Dirac app, while the BluOS Controller app contains basic controls, allowing a user to select filters, adjust subwoofer crossover settings, or simply disable Dirac.

Dirac Live will make these compensations up to 500 Hz. Users interested in room correction across the full frequency range can easily upgrade to Dirac Live Full.

The C 658 BluOS Streaming DAC will be on display at Hall 3, stand H04, at the Munich High End Show in Munich, Germany, May 9-12, 2019. Product experts will be on hand to answer questions about the C 658 and other products from NAD Electronics.
