NAD T 777 V3 a Treat for the Ears in Residential Systems Review

In Residential Systems’ recent review of the NAD T 777 V3, writer John Sciacca recalls his first encounter with an NAD surround receiver nearly three decades ago. “My first experience with NAD was back in the ’90s when I was looking to purchase my first surround receiver,” says Sciacca. Now in the possession of the T 777 V3, Sciacca says that although it “features massive generational improvements over those models from 20 years ago, it remains steeped in much of the same design DNA philosophy, both visually and sonically.”

Running through the T 777 V3’s list of features, Sciacca highlights the T 777 V3’s RS-232, Ethernet, 12V triggers and IR inputs/outputs for custom integration, as well as being equipped with NAD’s Modular Design Construction technology. “…the rear panel of the T 777 is filled with cards that can be field, removed and changed as upgrades occur, allowing systems to stay current with new AV formats.” Sciacca’s favourite feature of the T 777 V3, however, is the AV Presets which allows users to “select up to five easily recallable presets that can store listening mode setup preference, DSP options, tone controls, speaker configuration, and event front-panel display.”

With BluOS included, Sciacca says “the T 777 offers everything there is to love about Bluesound and can function as an audio zone in a full Bluesound system.”

After watching hours of TV and movies, Sciacca found that the T 777 V3 “always did an admirable job conveying the onscreen action while delivering solid, intelligible dialog, and tight resolved bass thanks to DIRAC.”

When it came to the T 777 V3’s performance, Sciacca described the sound quality as “full, detailed, and rich, leaning slightly toward warm, but in a definitely pleasing way.” In closing Sciacca says that “listening to music on the T 777 was always a treat.”
