February 5, 2018 Next NAD Announces Two New MDC Audio Modules MDC AM 17 and MDC AM 230 Share Company’s Newest Modules Add Latest Cutting-Edge Audio Technologies While Future Proofing the Customer’s Investment. ISE Amsterdam, February 5, 2018 – NAD Electronics, a leading manufacturer of premium home audio and video products, announced two new performance audio modules for their Modular Design Construction portfolio. The MDC AM 17 Audio Module (€769 / £649 / $699 U.S. MSRP) is designed as an upgrade for the company’s Masters M17 and M15HD/M15HD 2 PrePros while the MDC AM 230 (€629 / £599 / $549 U.S. MSRP) partners with the NAD T 758, T 777, T 787 AVRs and T 187 AV Preamp Processor. With NAD’s Modular Design Construction (MDC), adding the latest cutting-edge technology can be as simple as a software upgrade and adding a new hardware module into a stereo amplifier or AVR. Both the MDC AM 17 and MDC AM 230 will be available Spring 2018.MDC AM 17 Audio Module featuring Dolby Atmos®Designed for M15HD and M15HD 2 preamps, Dolby Atmos provides the biggest step forward in surround sound since Dolby Digital® debuted in the 1990’s. Using object-based decoding and additional overhead speakers, the movie director can place objects firmly and believably in three-dimensional spaces, creating the most realistic and immersive audio experience ever developed for the home. DTS TrueHD, HD and Neo:6 are also fully supported.Dirac Live™ Full SupportThe MDC AM 17 also supports the Dirac Live™ Full Room Correction Suite, one of the most advanced room correction technologies available. Dirac Live is different than traditional minimum-phase room correction systems that only correct frequency response, but not impulse response. Dirac Live corrects both, thus offering improvements in the room acoustics, the stereo image, clarity and transient reproduction of the music.MDC AM 230 Audio Module featuring Dolby Atmos® Designed for the NAD T 758, T 777, T 787 AVRs and T 187, the MDC AM 230 module also supports Dolby Atmos. Although the MDC AM 230 slots into NAD’s 7.1 chassis, it can support up to a 7.1.4 Atmos speaker configuration. This is accomplished with four channels of line level outputs used to connect to additional external amplification, like NAD’s CI 940 Amplifier. The MDC AM 230 can also be configured to use the internal amplification to create a 5.1.2 setup.Dirac Live™ LE SupportThe MDC AM 230 also supports the Dirac Live™ LE Room Correction Suite, one of the most advanced room correction technologies available. Dirac Live is different than traditional minimum-phase room correction systems that only correct frequency response, but not impulse response. Dirac Live corrects both, thus offering improvements in the room acoustics, the stereo image, clarity and transient reproduction of the music. The LE version featured here is limited to room mode frequencies below 500Hz.The Story Behind MDC (Modular Design Construction)Performance-minded enthusiasts want to embrace the ever-changing world of AV technology while “future proofing” their original investment.
