NAD Announces New BluOS Firmware Update with Roon at CES 2017

Las Vegas, Nevada, January 4, 2017 — NAD ELECTRONICS, a leading manufacturer of premium consumer electronics for home audio/video, in partnership with sister brand Bluesound, announced today that it is making BluOS™ firmware upgrades to its line of BluOS-enabled devices. BluOS version 2.10, available for upgrade by January 31, 2017, will enable NAD’s BluOS-enabled devices as RoonReady® Network Players, allowing users to stream high-resolution music up to 24-bit/192kHz throughout the home directly from Roon’s intuitive, information-rich music library.

Roon subscribers will be able to discover NAD’s BluOS-enabled devices on their network and stream the highest possible quality audio right from the Roon music library and user interface. RoonReady is the highest level of Roon integration available to playback partners, and means that Roon technology is actually customized for, and embedded into, NAD’s BluOS-enabled devices. It’s a designation given to audio player hardware products that have both implemented Roon Advanced Audio Transport (RAAT) and have been certified by Roon Labs for proper implementation.

In addition to these updates, BluOS 2.10 will also feature support for KKBOX®, Asia’s largest music streaming service. Natively integrated into the BluOS Controller App, KKBOX users in select regions of Asia can enjoy millions of songs and easily stream music to BluOS-enabled devices from NAD through a home network, either Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with simple control on any smartphone, tablet or desktop PC.

BluOS is the operating system that powers select NAD devices and all Bluesound Players. The proprietary system, developed by parent company Lenbrook, allows any BluOS-enabled device to connect to a Wi-Fi network to access many popular streaming music services or a networked library of music. The music can then be “sent” to one or many BluOS devices, even if the devices are located in different rooms of a home. The BluOS Controller App controls both the music and the devices, and is available for free for smartphone, tablet and desktop PC.

Starting January 31, NAD users will need to upgrade their BluOS-enabled devices to software version 2.10.0 or higher and download the updated BluOS Controller App for smartphone, tablet and desktop PC. About BluOS

BluOS is a proprietary operating system shared by high-end audio brands Bluesound and NAD Electronics. BluOS fully supports High Resolution Audio, as well as all popular lossless and lossy codecs. It also features seamless integration with common smart home controllers like Control4, Crestron, and RTI, among others. BluOS-enabled devices can be controlled with a free app available for smartphones, tablets and desktop.
