November 27, 2014 Next D 3020 Wins What Hi-Fi Digital Amplifier Shootout Share In the December 2014 edition, the editors at What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision named the D 3020 Hybrid Digital Amplifier the winner of their 2014 Digital Stereo Amplifier shootout. Five contenders were put through the test and evaluated on sound quality, design, and streaming flexibility. In addition to the NAD D 3020, the judges examined the UK’s other four top-selling compact digital stereo amplifiers. After all the test data was collected, with the votes cast from the panel of judges, the D 3020 surfaced as the clear winner of What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision’s 2014 shootout and retained its title. The judges were particularly impressed with the powerful performance of the D 3020’s highly efficient built-in DAC as well as its aptX Bluetooth feature, a combination that makes playing hi-res 24-bit/96kHz songs and streaming music from Spotify over Bluetooth fun and simple. “NAD’s done it again. The D 3020’s bold, hybrid design marked the beginning of a new era of digital integrated amplifiers, and despite the surge of new rivals fiercely vying for top spot, this talented amplifier firmly holds on to its crown,” said the judges at What Hi-Fi. “The NAD D 3020 remains a fantastic piece of hi-fi kit. The compact design and breadth of connections aside, it’s the punchy, exciting, nuanced performance that truly engages us.” Read the full five-star review and watch the video here.
