Introduction to Dirac Live

Dirac specializes in digital sound optimization solutions. Whether you’re watching a movie at home, relaxing with headphones or using your mobile device as a makeshift boombox, audio quality can make or break the experience. Great recording and production studios understand that exceptional loudspeakers don’t guarantee exceptional audio. Room acoustics are the weakest link in most sound systems, making acoustic sound treatment a must. Dirac’s digital room correction helps your loudspeakers reach their full potential in any listening room – perfect for manufacturers who want to provide the best possible audio solution across any price range.
With Dirac Live® you can easily measure the acoustic characteristics of your loudspeakers and room, and calibrate the sound system to reproduce sound as intended.

How Room Correction Works

Dirac Live Room Correction technology works by analyzing the acoustic properties of a room, such as size, shape, and any objects that might affect sound waves. Using a microphone to measure sound output, Dirac Live identifies anomalies and distortions, and then optimizes the sound from your speakers to counteract these irregularities and ensure the best listening experience.

Dirac Live Room Correction (Limited)

Many NAD amplifiers enabled with Dirac include a license for Dirac Live Room Correction Limited, which allows for room correction up to 500Hz. Most issues with room acoustics are in the bass region, and with Dirac Live Limited, you will be able to experience much faster, tighter and controlled bass from your NAD system.

Dirac Live Room Correction (Full Bandwidth)

Dirac Live Full Bandwidth isn’t limited to 500Hz, and it will analyze the full audio frequency band, not just the bass region. As Dirac also accounts for time alignment and in-band phase shifting, the impulse response will also be greatly improved with enhanced dynamics and a more detailed soundstage. A license for Dirac Live Full Bandwidth is included with select NAD amplifiers.

Dirac Live Bass Control (Multiple Subwoofer)

Dirac Live Bass Control Multiple Subwoofer adds another dimension to Dirac Live Full Bandwidth. Available in the NAD Masters M66 with four independent subwoofer outputs, Dirac Live Bass Control individually controls each subwoofer and corrects bass characteristics across the listening area, eliminating peaks and dips to create a smoother, more balanced low-end.

Getting Started with Dirac Live

1. Ensure the Firmware for your AV receiver or processor is up to date

Make sure your unit is running the latest firmware in order to start your DIRAC setup. See how to upgrade your firmware.*

Alternatively, on comparable BluOS devices you may download the BluOS Desktop App and follow the on-screen prompts to add your AVR as a player. Once completed, the app will automatically begin installation of the latest firmware.*

For manual installation of the upgrade, please follow the instructions on this support article or email support@nadelectronics.com for further assistance.
