Behind the Design of the C 389

The NAD C 389 HybridDigital DAC amplifier reinforces NAD’s longstanding history of designing amplifiers that deliver performance, flexibility and long-term value, asserting itself as a cornerstone component for any audiophile-grade stereo system. Below, we highlight some key features of NAD’s latest Classic Series amplifier. NAD C 389 Rear

Crystal Clear Phono

With its state-of-the-art phono preamp section, the C 389 eliminates the noise and discrepancies often associated with vinyl playback. The infrasonic filter in the phono section suppresses rumble, the unwanted infrasonic sounds which emanate from the turntable’s mechanics or tonearm resonances. Not only is the C 389 well-equipped for vinyl playback, but it is packed full of digital goodies like the BluOS-D Module that lets you stream music from a turntable throughout your whole home, setting it apart from traditional amplifiers.

Load Invariant Power

The output stage of the C 389 features a customized HybridDigital UcD design, with multiple UcD amplifier modules in balanced bridged configuration and an innovative switch-mode power supply that provides ample reserves of current on demand. Thanks to 130 Watts per channel of load invariant, continuous power, nearly all distortion and noise is eliminated, retaining the sound intrinsic to the loudspeaker. The result; real-life listening levels with any loudspeaker load and effortless reproduction of musical transients. MDC2 BluOS-D Module

MDC2 BluOS-D Module

The C 389’s incorporation of NAD’s latest Modular Design Construction technology, widens the scope of what this cornerstone amplifier can do. With two expansion slots, the C 389 can adapt to evolving technologies and technical advances. The all-new MDC2 BluOS-D module features BluOS high-res multi-room streaming, which allows the C 389 to be part of a multi-room music system with as many as 64 (Ethernet) or 16 (Wi-Fi) zones through a home network connection. With BluOS, users can access over 20 streaming services including Tidal, Deezer, Qobuz, Amazon Music Ultra-HD and Spotify, or play from a personal music library using the BluOS Controller app. Like all BluOS-enabled components, the MDC2 BluOS-D brings MQA decoding and rendering capability to the C 389, as well as Apple AirPlay 2 and control by popular voice assistants. Dirac Live Room Correction

Dirac Live Room Correction

Built-into the BluOS-D Module is Dirac Live room correction which allows you to optimize your system to the room acoustics and compensate for discrepancies like standing waves and room reflections. The results are transformative and offer deeper, more textured bass; more precise imaging; and improved timbral accuracy.   Learn more about the NAD C 389 here
