NAD Upgrades and Expands Masters M17 V2 AV PrePro

ISE Amsterdam, NL, February 5, 2018 — NAD Electronics, the highly regarded manufacturer of high-performance audio/video components, unveiled a new and improved Masters Series Surround Sound AV Preamp Processor that brings an even higher level of dramatic impact and performance to advanced Home Theatres. The M17 V2 (€6750 / £5499 / $5999 U.S. MSRP) supports Modular Design Construction (MDC) which enables the latest technologies and features such as UHD 4K video, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Atmos, Dirac Live Full Room Correction and BluOS that enables streaming high-res multi-room audio. The M17 V2 will be available Spring 2018.

For years, NAD has been widely recognized as a pioneer in cutting-edge digital audio reproduction. For example, their Masters Series has redefined high-end audio by introducing the world’s first closed loop digital amplifier with performance exceeding analogue equivalents and leading to an entirely new system architecture. With the inclusion of BluOS™, the powerful wireless multi-room Bluesound™ music management software, this innovative collection of products downloads, stores and streams music without adding or subtracting anything from the digital music source, including 24/192 HD music downloads.

Modular Design Construction (MDC) assures compatibility with UHD video sources as well as the next generation of surround sound formats as they evolve. With MDC, all major digital circuits can be upgraded and replaced to keep the M17 forever young and capable. This NAD innovation is a unique architecture that keeps pace with the fast-changing world of digital formats by allowing connectivity and feature upgrades as new technology becomes available. In fact, this M17 V2 is the previous M17 chassis with a new video MDC and new Audio MDC modules installed. MDC defies premature obsolescence, so the owner can keep pace with the latest developments in high-performance AV through dealer-installed modules. An existing M17 can be upgraded as needed and one only needs to replace the module they wish to upgrade, not the entire AV preamp processor.

Fully Featured Surround – The M17 V2 carries on the enviable task of representing NAD’s finest surround sound performance. It offers full HDMI video switching and surround sound decoding along with 11.1 balanced outputs. Brimming with a full complement of sophisticated features like the high-resolution lossless surround formats from Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding, and now object-based audio with Dolby Atmos, the M17 V2 provides the highest levels of performance. The surround mode of the source material is automatically detected via the digital inputs of the M17 V2, and the most advanced form of decoding, based on the setup, is switched in. Conversion of the encoded digital bitstream is performed with high resolution and extremely linear D/A converters carefully selected for their performance capabilities.

Fully Balanced Audio with Separate Linear Supply – Like all professional recording studios and sound stages, the M17 V2 offers fully balanced audio outputs for all eleven channels. This includes the DACs which are also fully balanced. Locking connectors and special interface electronics allow long cable runs without noise pickup or signal loss. The silent black background and explosive dynamics afforded by the balanced line stage amplifier adds drama and excitement to your music and movies.

Dirac Live Full room correction is now featured and offers a remarkable increase in fidelity by correcting both frequency response and time domain impulse response.  When properly calibrated, Dirac Live improves clarity, naturalness, and pinpoint imaging.

BluOS™, the High-Resolution Audio Multi-Room Music Player shared with NAD’s sister brand Bluesound, is included in the M17 V2 making it unique among high-end AV Processors.  When connected to the internet via Ethernet or Wi-Fi the M17 V2 has access to thousands of internet radio stations and over a dozen high-quality music services including Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, and many more.  With full support for MQA, the M17 V2 has the highest resolution audio performance available combined with the highest definition video performance.

Flexible Setup – The latest HDMI features, including HDCP 2.2, 4:4:4 colour resolution, High Dynamic Range video support, and CEC/ARC, are all included. Digital inputs and outputs are available in both coaxial and optical formats to make it easy to attach all digital sources. Digital inputs are converted to analogue for use in Zone 2 where the user can choose to convert unused tape outputs for Zone 3 and Zone 4 use with independent source selection and volume control. With BluOS™ NAD has also made it easy to add more speakers for listening to music in additional rooms. IR repeaters, 12V triggers to automatically switch amplifiers on and off, and an RS-232 data port makes it easy to connect to highly advanced automated control systems, such as Crestron and Control4. Thoughtful features like discrete On and Off codes, direct access to inputs and FM station presets facilitates the integration of the M17 V2 into elaborate remote-control systems.
