ABOUT NAD

Founded in 1972 by passionate European audio importers, NAD defied industry giants with a bold vision to create high-

performance, authentic audio products.

OUR HISTORY

When NAD’s visionary Managing Director, Marty Borish, hired brilliant engineer Bjorn Erik Edvardsen, the brand’s legacy began. They saw a gap in the market—high-performance audio at an affordable price. Edvardsen pioneered state-of-the-art engineering, focusing solely on essentials for great sound, a philosophy that led to the groundbreaking NAD 3020, the best-selling hi-fi amplifier in history.

NAD continued innovating with industry firsts like the 6100 Dolby C cassette deck, the 5200 premium CD player, and the M2, which redefined digital amplification. Over five decades, NAD’s proprietary technologies—Modular Design Construction, HybridDigital, DirectDigital, and more—have set new standards in audio excellence.

Now based in Canada, NAD’s development team, led by Edvardsen’s protégés, carries forward his legacy. Though Borish and Edvardsen are gone, their vision remains: delivering true-to-source sound for all. Every NAD product reflects this relentless pursuit of perfection—if it doesn’t surpass expectations, it’s not released.

About Us

Classic Series

Classic Series

Comprised of some of our most celebrated models, our Classic Series products’ minimalist design makes them prone to being overlooked by some. But even seasoned audiophiles are often astonished by how good they sound – regardless of price. Evolved from the technologies that Edvardsen pioneered, today’s Classic Series products are an embodiment of the philosophy of accessible hi-fi that NAD became famous for. Everything required for great sound is included, but we leave off the superfluous features that add unnecessary cost and complexity—leaving only what matters most, the music.

Masters Series

Masters Series

Many of NAD’s new technology innovations are first introduced in this flagship series. World-class fit and finish reflect the advanced design and features enclosed within. Often sounding better than the boutique brands that can cost much more than NAD, our advanced technology is often emulated by these same brands just a few years later. NAD’s Masters Series was created to prove that high fidelity audio, high technology, and high design shouldn’t cost a fortune.
