I've tried using my Andriod with Twonky Beam to control playing from the NAS to the C446. It's definitely a cool facility, but as Milos says, you lose the gapless feature. The same applies to using the C446 as a UPnP receiver with Twonky on my PC. It's probably a 'feature' of the device which is controlling the playback. If I use the C446 as a UPnP client and play an album, it's gapless as the C446 buffers the next track, as it knows it's ready. As I normally control my C446 from the front panel, I'm happy. It's a superb piece of kit, which will soon replace my CD player on the much-coveted shelf below the turntable, now I've ripped all of my CDs to FLAC.
Great device, owning one and very pleased with sound it gives. But using mobile or tablet with Twonky for example to control it I found very uncomfortable. First wireless connection that is unstable from time to time, second Twonky application can get unstable when more apps are running at same time or when you get phone call during listening to the music, third gapless feature is lost when using any other way of controlling NAD C446 except dedicated remote control. It's nice idea but still not stable enough for serious consideration, I'll stick to NAD remote control for now.
Very impressed! It sure took NAD a while to develop such a unit as the C446 and looks like one worthy of classic NAD performance. I wish the device would (for US markets) be SiriusXM internet radio capable like many units ported to Reciva, such as those produced by Grace Digital. Perhaps Vtuner can get it together with SiriusXM and make that available to the C446. After all Vtuner is located in the NYC area near SiriusXM. Then how about it NAD nerds; for C446's produced for US markets, switch out that DAB stuff for HD Radio. Then you'll have a real killer set! NAD is my go to brand for quality audio. Keep up the good work! My first NAD was a 7020 bought back in 1980. My current unit is the C320BEE. A snob at Stereophile gave it a great rating. So true, sounds really great.
