User Review: T 747 A/V Surround Sound Receiver - Disappointing performance
June 11, 2010
Products: T 747 A/V Surround Sound Receiver
I recently purchased an NAD 747 receiver and an NAD 535 DVD player to replace my very satisfying NAD 745 receiver and DVD player. Overall, I've been very disappointed with this receiver. Even though I'm only driving 5, high-efficiency speakers in my home theater, the unit seems very underpowered, especially for NAD. I have to crank the volume way up to get decent output levels. The HDMI switching cannot handle audio and a high-def video signal at the same time without drop-outs, scan lines, and other annoying video artifacts, as if the bandwidth is too limited. (I use high-end Monster HDMI cables.) I exchanged the unit for another 747, which resulted in an improvement, but the problem is still there. Yes, the unit is fairly easy to install and configure, but so are most receivers at half the price point of the NAD 747.
