User Review: 314 Stereo Integrated Amplifier - Great integrated amp if you can find it

I picked up my NAD 314 a few years ago at a thrift store in Austin, TX. While I have had some work done on the amp (I replaced all the transistors in 2010 with higher quality ones and recently a bad voltage regulator in the power supply circuit), I am more than happy with the results. Paired with floor-standing Marantz speakers, the overall sound is warm with good separation and clarity. As others have noted, the mid-range is perhaps not excellent, but this can be corrected with larger speakers. By all means, avoid using small, bookshelf speakers with this NAD. One day, I may upgrade to a serious audiophile amp, but this little 35-watt amp has been my workhorse and provided endless joy. Pick one up if you are looking for something inexpensive that sounds great. I love, by the way, all the inputs and outputs on this amp. It has a dedicated phono input, CD, video, aux., tuner, tape 1, and tape 2, as well as outputs for 2 sets of speakers and headphones (front). I have seen other NADs with no phono, only 1 set of speakers, etc. Since I play vinyl, CDs, tapes, my iPhone and the radio through this amp, as well as my TV, this little amp lets me do it all. Highly recommend, if you can find cheap, though I think it originally sold new around $500...
