User Review: M5 CD SACD Player - excellent sound and value

I purchased a new M5 about five days ago, replacing very good digital equipment from Marantz and Musical Fidelity. I am extremely pleased so far. The CD sound is far superior to anything in this price range or well above it. Beautifully detailed, balanced, musical sound. The SACD (multichannel) is especially impressive for its abundant, but very tight bass. Microdynamics really bring out the individuality and expressions of the musicians. You are there! Loads of upper-end detail too. Unfortunately this occasionally means I am more aware of the "processing" that went into older recordings or pop remasterings. But well recorded DSD sounds phenomenal. Just for fun I compared this with a player costing four times as much at my dealer's. The NAD made a very respectable showing. I am also grateful for the digital bass and speaker-distance management. It was easy to set up, and makes a big difference. Thanks NAD!
