User Review: VISO 1 Wireless Digital Music System - Trouble-free Zeppelin beater (apart from the remote!)

Products: VISO 1 Wireless Digital Music System

Yesterday I bought a B&W Zeppelin from superfi, on account of it sounding fantastic in the shop. When I got it home I found couldn't get it to talk to my wireless connection. More importantly, the housing in the dock wouldn't fit my Ipod classic properly. Absolutely furious, I exchanged it for the NAD. Receiving good reviews on the internet, I thought it was worth the risk (and the price was identical). I am glad I did! Soundwise I am impressed with the clout that the NAD has. I cranked up Slayer & Mastadon and was blown away by the power of the bass! That is some serious woofer - and I've only got it on a neighbour-friendly volume! I've also listened to a bit of Dark Side Of The Moon and the detail and space is awe-inspiring. I don't know if the sound of the NAD actually beats the Zeppelin, but what it does have in spades is a trouble-free, plug and play quality which the nightmarish Zep can't claim. I haven't tried the bluetooth business yet but I'm not that bothered - all I wanted was a decent system to house my Classic into. All in all, you can tell you're getting your money's worth with this. People may argue that for £500 you could get a better sound out of separates. Maybe so, but if like me your Ipod is your main music source, then it's worth spending a bit extra for quality. That is what the NAD delivers - quality. Oh, and the build quality is excellent - and it looks fantastic too! My only gripe is with the remote battery - you have to put the battery in yourself, and it's a bastard! I've basically almost ruined the plastic screw at the back having to force the sodding battery in!

Following my submission of this review, I got to test the Bluetooth capabilities of the Viso 1. I could not believe how trouble-free the wireless functionality is, compared to the Zeppelin! It literally took less than a minute for my IPod touch to “talk” to the Viso and play wirelessly. This works for all Bluetooth devices (Android etc), so you’re not tethered to ITunes.

If that wasn’t good enough, the nice people at NAD read my review, and my complaint about the difficulty I had with the remote, and offered to send me a brand new one for free! Now that is what I call customer service! All in all, a 10 out of 10 product.
