NAD Enters Custom Installation Market With Powerful New Solutions

September 13, 2016

CEDIA Expo, Dallas, TX September 13, 2016 — NAD Electronics, the highly regarded manufacturer of high-performance audio/video components, announced that their CI 720 Network Stereo Zone Amplifier ($899 MSRP) and companion RM720 Rack Mount ($299) are now available. Both models will be available for demonstration at the CEDIA expo, alongside previews of the CI 580 BluOS Network Music Player that is coming later this fall. These products augment the company’s Custom Installation Series (CI Series) and mark NAD’s renewed commitment to the custom installation market.

The CI 720 features BluOS, the operating system developed by Bluesound™, as the first high resolution multi-room wireless audio solution. BluOS offers the ability to stream audio from local collections or popular cloud services like Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz, and others. More importantly, it also enables deep integration with several of the top control systems, including Control4, Crestron, and RTI. Unlike other network audio solutions, BluOS has a published API that allows a more complete and sustainable integration.

Greg Stidsen, Director of Technology and Product Planning for NAD Electronics explained, “NAD believes that there’s been a big gap in the available network streaming options for distributed multi-room audio, a core element in every Custom Integration project. Our pioneering work in the area of digital technology has resulted in the new Hybrid Digital amplifier platform that is astounding audiophiles the world over, achieving levels of detail, transparency and power never achieved at these price points before.”

NAD Hybrid Digital power makes the CI 720 single stereo zone solution something very special in the world of distributed audio. The ‘blade’ form factor means it saves space by residing locally in the zone – behind a flat screen TV for example – where the analog and digital inputs can accommodate the local source in addition to the network stream. A thermostatically controlled forced-air cooling system assures long term reliability even in enclosed rack installations.

To facilitate mounting the CI 720 in a rack, NAD will offer the RM 720 Rack Mount Accessory for CI 720. This useful accessory allows six CI 720s to occupy a 3U rack space, providing a neat and tidy result.

With a conservatively-rated 60W continuous and up to 165W Dynamic Power available, any speaker can be driven to life-like sound levels with remarkable sound quality. For bass aficionados, a subwoofer output is included. CI 720 also features both analog and digital inputs, which can support cable boxes, and other non-network sources and makes them available and selectable in every zone. Additional features include USB input, Ethernet In/Out, standard network protocols and universal voltage (100-240).

Stidsen went on to add, “NAD has deep roots in the custom market. Whether the project calls for replacing an obsolete 100-disc CD changer or planning a new multi-room audio system, NAD’s CI Series, particularly with the addition of the CI 720 and the upcoming CI 580 to the product lineup, integrators have immense flexibility to create advanced distributed High Res Audio systems.” .

NAD will be exhibiting at CEDIA Expo 2017 in Booth 5716, September 15-17, at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. NAD personnel will be on hand to answer questions about the company’s CI products as well as other NAD models. Sister brands PSB and Bluesound will also be featured in the same exhibit.

About BluOS

BluOS is a proprietary operating system shared by high-end audio brands Bluesound and NAD Electronics. Unlike other solutions that rely on 3 rd party software like UPnP, BluOS is a dedicated ‘music only’ operating system that allows for interoperability among enabled devices and provides connectivity to numerous cloud and network music sources. BluOS fully supports High Resolution Audio (HRA and Master Quality Authenticated (MQA), as well as all popular lossless and lossy codecs. It is also features seamless integrations with common smart home controls like Control4, Crestron, and RTI, among others. BluOS-enabled devices can be controlled with a free app available for Apple or Android devices, or PC desktops.
