NAD Electronics has for over thirty-five years been acknowledged worldwide as an uncommon company—always to the benefit of its customers. Now, in one of its most important product introductions, NAD launches the T755, T765, T775 and T785 AV Receivers and the T175 A/V Tuner Surround Sound Preamplifier. These are classic NAD designs. Instead of incorporating brochure-friendly video processing, or succumbing to the wattage wars, we’ve focused on meaningful goals: real-world sonics and power; pristine, non-degraded video, genuinely ergonomic design, and progressive features like our uniquely enhanced Audyssey™ auto set-up and calibration.
These models maintain NAD core values beginning with its “Music First” design philosophy, which declares that state-of-the-art music recordings remain the truest test of any playback system. NAD’s belief that home-entertainment products have grown far too complex and user-unfriendly also guided the new designs to their simpler, more intuitive user interface.
Modular Design Construction *A Modular Design Construction places all input circuitry on five easily removable plug-in cards. This superior construction technique protects your investment via the capability for easy upgrades, fast and easy service and improved sound and video performance due to the neat internal layout. For example, if and when the Dolby True HD and/or DTS Master lossless multi-channel formats become fully useful standards of high-definition discs or other recordings, NAD will make upgraded processing available. With modular construction (and since HDMI 1.3 pipelines are already in place), this can be practical and affordable.
* MDC only available on T765, T775, T785, T175 and the M15HD
Utilizing the latest HDMI 1.3 chips from Analog Devices all resolutions (480, 576, 720 and 1080) are supported. Analogue inputs are “cross-converted” to HDMI and HDMI sources preserve their original resolutions up to 1080p, so you know you are getting the purest audio and video performance. NAD eschews the chip-based video-DSP “upscaling” that looks so attractive in competitors’ brochures, but which frequently result in video indistinguishable from, or actually inferior to, the original source. All new A/V receivers and T175 feature NAD’s extensive new on-screen menu/display system via all video outputs, including HDMI, permitting a single-cable link to the video display. Additionally, the T175, T775 and T785 add even more functionality with audio processing and On-Screen-Display.
Audyssey Auto Setup and Room CalibrationUsing the supplied microphone, Audyssey™ Auto Setup performs all speaker settings. NAD’s proprietarily enhanced Audyssey MultEQ XT technology enables home theatres to sound the way they were intended in every seat by removing the distortion caused by room acoustics.
The Audyssey™ Auto Setup and Room Calibration functions on NAD’s A/V receivers and preamp exploit today’s extraordinarily powerful yet affordable digital signal processing (DSP) to improve real-world sound reproduction. Audyssey auto setup employs the supplied calibrated microphone; simply locate the microphone at the listening position and engage the Audyssey system via a single remote-control key. The NAD A/V receiver or preamp automatically detects the connected loudspeaker layout, verifies correct connections, selects ideal crossover points, and adjusts each speaker’s level and delay with precision that would be difficult or impossible to duplicate by ear alone. NAD’s proprietarily enhanced Audyssey MultEQ XT* technology, the latest in digital sophistication, enables home theatres to sound the way they were intended in every seat by removing the distortion caused by room acoustics. Using the calibration microphone to “hear” your room, a series of test tones measure the speakers’ response and the room’s distorting acoustic reflections independently, and then calculates an ideal response that minimizes the effects of these reflections – Dialogue intelligibility is dramatically improved, precise imaging and sound stage are enhanced and the accurate localization of instruments for musical balance is optimised. While this sounds simple, the digital technology that is required for this level of performance would have cost many thousands of dollars just a few short years ago. In fact, the T775, T785 and T 175 are the first products to support Audyssey MultEQ XT Pro**. Using MultEQ XT Pro software and the added processing power of a laptop computer, custom installers can derive even more accurate and extensive room corrections, uploading the results to the T775, T785 or T175, whose Audyssey processor will implement them.
* Audyssey MultEQ XT available on the T785, T775 and T175.
** Audyssey MultEQ XT Pro available exclusively through U.S. NAD Authorized Custom Installers.

The exciting new world of digital radio is available in many countries, and NAD can deliver its expansive content and clarity, via
DAB or XM Satellite Radio. DAB-region owners need only purchase the NAD DB-1 module; in North
America, a third-party XM mini tuner module plugs right in.
NAD receivers and amplifiers are well known for delivering amazing “real world” dynamic power. NAD’s exclusive PowerDrive technology provides high dynamic power and low impedance drive capability. PowerDrive’s “dual-rail” power supply delivers optimized internal voltage levels especially during the most demanding conditions: dynamic peaks,
sweeping musical transients, deep-bass excursions that drive a loudspeaker into its most power-hungry impedance
range. It’s a little like the “kickdown” of a sophisticated automatic transmission—providing extra short-term power on demand. PowerDrive is one big reason why NAD AV receivers do not exhibit the dynamic compression, flattened imaging, or the strident harshness audiophiles so often decry as “receiver sound.” PowerDrive not only makes NAD receivers and amplifiers sound better, it makes them cooler running, with improved efficiency, leading to greater reliability as well.
Power sells audio products, so many manufacturers tailor their designs to obtain the best power ratings that can be contrived. In today’s digital world, with uncompressed signals and multi-channel entertainment, these continuous power ratings drive designs that are inefficient, hot, heavy and expensive to produce. Even worse, the sound quality of many such
designs can be thin, overly bright, and lacking in musical texture. And since the power produced is far less than that “promised” when driving 5 or 7 loudspeakers, the dynamic power required for the full intensity of an action movie scene or orchestral climax is simply not available. NAD’s solution to this conundrum is to optimize our power supplies to drive real-world loudspeakers effectively. This requires a precisely regulated, high current power supply to be designed for each NAD amplifier and receiver. Thus we can rate our receivers with continuous 4 ohm loads, all channels driven simultaneously, full bandwidth (20Hz - 20kHz), and at rated distortion. This is a far cry from the commonly used FTC minimal requirement using 8 ohm dummy loads, and requiring no more than two channels to be stressed at a time, and those at an easy 1 kHz frequency, with no distortion specified! Music or movie sound is not a uniform, unchanging signal such as continuous power ratings would suggest. Rather, it is dynamic, occurring in bursts of varying durations and constantly changing amplitudes. Unlike conventional amplifiers, NAD’s “smart” dual-stage power supplies are designed to handle the dynamic power required by today’s music and films more effectively. Furthermore, our amplifier designs produce outstanding low impedance drive capabilities, even when driving the most demanding loudspeakers in a high-performance home theatre system. FDP is an important reason why NAD components offer a valuable alternative to the over-hyped receivers and amplifiers on the market today.
Created by NAD engineers who understood that no matter how much real world power you give the people, someday, somewhere, someone will demand more. It is all too easy to
keep setting the volume higher without realizing just how high you have turned it up. Switching in Soft Clipping will greatly reduce the chance of damage. NAD’s patented selectable Soft Clipping circuit gently transforms the music waveform as the point of distortion (clipping) approaches, resulting in much clearer reproduction and possibly protecting your speakers from damage, especially tweeters.
